Thommy Hutson's Jinxed Releases Tomorrow

Hutson was partly inspired to write the book by his own school experience. “I went to a performing arts school for two years when I was a kid.” says the author, whose previous credits include writing the A Nightmare on Elm Street documentary Never Sleep Again and the 2014 horror film, Animal. “I always loved the idea of setting something in that milieu, because there’s just naturally a heightened sense of drama. Everyone there is angling to have their moment, and they want to shine, and everyone has dreams of becoming a star.”

Hutson’s upcoming projects include a horror anthology TV series he is working on with CSI producer-directors Louis Shaw Milito and Phil Conserva and writing the second of what he plans to be a trilogy of Jinxed novels. “I have a lot of it mapped out,” says the author. “There are some twists and turns, and some surprises and callbacks, that are going to happen throughout the series. I’m really excited about it.”

Layna Curtis, a talented, popular senior, soon realizes that the seemingly random, accidental deaths of her friends aren't random—or accidents—at all. Someone has taken the childhood games too far, using the idea of superstitions to dispose of their classmates. As Layna tries to convince people of her theory, she uncovers the terrifying notion that each escalating, gruesome murder leads closer to its final victim: her.

Will Layna's opening night also be her final bow?
